Bed and Nightstand

The original feel to the room was drab and a bit underwhelming. Unfortunately the master bedroom is one of the last rooms tackled by home owners but these sparty clients were not going to let that happen! They wanted a beautiful space to land each night and wake each morning!

We started by brightening up the space with Benjamin Moore Simply White. This is such an amazing room brightener. Side note – because this white has a small amount of a yellow undertones, it’s a warmer white than some which creates a beautiful backdrop to the bedroom. We wanted to create a bright space for the homeowners, especially knowing the bed would be a black wrought iron. The contrast of the black bed against the white walls is so dramatic.

Choosing the white nightstands to continue with the bright feeling in the room was imperative but offsetting this a bit with the art above each nightstand with natural wood framing was just as important. This softens the white. These art pieces were created by The Painted Paw and inspired by the client. The client loved the saying – “With You” on one side of the bed and “I am Home” on the other! P.S. the black hardware on the white nightstands was not an accident – coordinates with the bed 😉

Lighting

For the lighting in the room we wanted something different than the black wrought iron so we chose a beautiful brushed brass. This metal mixing creates beautiful contrast.

For the bedside lighting we chose a sconce that they could swing in closer when in bed. The black in the arm of the light coordinates with the bed frame as well.

For the overhead light we chose this fantastic Suzette Scallop light fixture from Ballard Designs

Bench

We chose an upholstered bench for the end of the bed to not only create a space to put your shoes on but to also soften the look of the bed frame.

Bedding

The Bedding of course is important in any bedroom, especially the master! We again chose a nice bright duvet cover but one that had a slight grey detail to coordinate with the pillows and bench in the space. The slight details allows for the white to still be forefront but gives a slight detail to the bed.

We added a few throw pillows to add texture and a bit of color. We also added a grey coverlet to play off of the bench as well and give an alternative to the heavy weight of the down comforter on those warmer nights.

Dresser

The homeowner saw this Golden Era Sideboard/chest by Magnolia and had to have it! The light wood tones are beautiful and what drove the wood tones chosen in the rest of the space.
