Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree...
We have this wonderful family holiday tradition the day after Thanksgiving. We go out to this great tree farm and find our "perfect Christmas tree". It has been such a fun tradition and I know we're creating wonderful memories for the kids.
This year the weather was just perfect! In years past it had either been freezing cold or super muddy! This year it was actually kind of warm believe it or not - it is MN after all.
And it's not just picking the perfect tree that makes the experience so great, it's everything in between. When you get to the farm you're welcomed by Santa who is ready to hear the kiddos wishes for Christmas and Mrs. Claus who is baking cookies for the kiddos. Once the kids have seen Santa, we grab our cider and cookies and head out to wait for the wagon to pick us up and take us out to the trees. We all board the wagon and take a short ride out to the trees and once we get there, we're given a hand saw to cut the tree down. We then run around looking for the perfect tree! Once we find it, Mitch cuts it down by hand - which isn't as difficult as it seams. We load the tree up on the wagon and head back to load it on top of the Jeep. Once we get the tree home, we all decorate it!
The thing I love about this whole experience is that we are finding our "perfect Christmas tree" together, making a full day out of it, and spending quality time together. Part of me also loves the scene in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation where they head out to find their "perfect tree" and it ends up not so perfect! Only our experience is much more organized and our tree usually fits in the house.
We captured some great photos along the way and here is our final tree! We also have our full Home for the Holidays Christmas Tour up as well, so click the link and go see! We are talking major Christmas decor galore as we have teamed up with 15 other bloggers to provide you the ultimate Christmas home tour!
Cheers and Happy Holidays!
